I discovered this mantra of simplifying writing and making it quite neat and presentable quite early in college days when we used to write exams on punched sheets provided from College/University. Here is Writing Quick Tip: How to Simplify Writing?
Those were golden examination days, when it was all handwritten stuff, answer sheets and notebooks. Professors used chalks to explain reactions on slate boards in huge study halls with stairs.
No microphone only echo of professors voice and student murmurs when questions were asked. Few raised hands to answer questions.
Computers were only found in computer labs in Computing Departments and nobody was aware of online examination. Actually it was out of dictionary.
Asking for more writing sheets in exam hall and writing all the answers neatly and fast was my forte.
