Experiencing a headache in the middle of the night can be disruptive and concerning. There are various potential causes for nighttime headaches, and it is essential to identify the underlying factors. There are various Types of Headache Depending on Intensity, Region and Reasons. Headaches are of different in intensity, and may occur in different parts of head and neck may be involved too.

Types of Headache

  1. Hypnic(Nighttime) headache: Nighttime headache is kind of “alarm clock pain” happening at the nearly the same time during night, in the middle of sleep too.
  2. Migraine: Severe throbbing and pulsating pain attacks (mostly hereditary) on one side of head. Generally accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. It comes with usually 4 stages of Pro-drome or premonitory, aura, attack, post-drome.
  3. New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH): It is a rare daily condition that somewhat resemble migraine. It may trigger due to infection or stressful condition. It may continue for many years or decade. Certain lifestyle changes, meditation, sleep pattern changes and other stress relieving treatments may provide relief.
