It can be rhythmic sound of heart beat or sound of swooshing or whooshing , it can be very unsettling and annoying and can also cause lot of stress. Pulsatile Tinnitus: Hearing your Own Heart Beat is a condition for some people. When their heart rate increases, the beat or sound will become faster; when it decreases, the beat or sound will slow down. While it is common for people to hear their heartbeats if their heart is pounding hard, people with Pulsatile Tinnitus often hear it from no external source but from their own heart, even when they have not exerted themselves.

Heart Beat

Typically one can hear their heart beat, especially if they listen in a quiet environment. The sound of heart beating is often referred to as “heart rate” or “pulse.”

One can hear it most clearly by even sitting quietly with no other background noise. The human ear is not usually sensitive enough to hear the heartbeat directly, especially in a noisy environment.
