Food Allergy: Immune Response to Certain Food Items-I
Food allergy and immune system reaction
Food Allergy is caused by body immune reaction to some proteins contained in certain food items that are consumed. Body’s immune system overreacts and responds against the foreign food item consumed and send antibodies in blood to fight with them. This leads to chain reactions and certain symptoms as reddishness, marks, nausea and vomit. It depends on how each body reacts. Symptoms may be different for each body. We will discuss more about Food Allergy: Immune Response to Certain Food Items in this article.
What is Food Allergy?
A food allergy is an abnormal immune system response to certain foods, triggered by the body’s mistaken identification of certain food proteins as harmful.
When someone with a food allergy consumes the allergenic food, their immune system reacts by releasing chemicals such as histamine, leading to various symptoms.
These symptoms can range from mild to severe and may include:
Skin Reactions: Itching, hives, eczema, or swelling (angioedema) of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Respiratory Symptoms: Sneezing, runny or congested nose, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, or asthma symptoms.
